Waldeck was first recorded in 1120 and became known as Burgmannssitz around 1223 with the name Rode. In 1232 the townspeople of Waldeck is being mentioned for the first time.�Well worth seeing�is apart from some half-timbered houses with valuable gables of course the castle Waldeck, the town's landmark.�Further information about the castle can be found under the rubric sightseeing.
